Center on Halsted Stands With and For You

Over the last twenty-four hours many of us have gone through a huge range of emotions. As the morning dawned on us, an air of uncertainty and fear was palpable. Values we hold so true to ourselves, that all people are created equal and should be treated with equity, kindness, and compassion, seemed both truer and more vulnerable than ever. Core tenets of our identity have been put at risk. People from across our community are reaching out to Center on Halsted searching for connection to make sense of what has happened.

Know that Center on Halsted remains committed to advancing community and securing the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals. We are here for you and we are here with you. As a community embedded in numerous identities and experiences we comprise all races, all nationalities, all abilities, all genders and sexes. You are all are welcome at Center on Halsted as we gather in community and organize in solidarity.

The LGBTQ community is no stranger to adversity. In fact, we have thrived in the face of it, proving our relevance, fighting and advocating for change. Let us now call on each other once again to stand together in unity embracing diversity to create a society that values each other and our inherent differences. Together we will combat racism, sexism, violence, and hate in all forms as central to the LGBTQ movement. This is our work because you are our family.
