Expanding Geographic Reach

Center on Halsted

At the beginning of June we announced our new Strategic direction and the four priorities that will guide our work for the next three years. As we conclude celebrating Pride Month here at Center on Halsted, we will now turn our work in this new direction and towards the bold plans that will get us there.

Geographic Reach

Center on Halsted will extend the geographic reach of and access to Center on Halsted.

While Center on Halsted currently calls its home 3656 N Halsted at the corner of Waveland & Halsted, our history, dating back to Gay Horizons in 1973, has never been bound to one location. We have been consistently committed to securing the health & well-being of all LGBTQ people of Chicagoland. From extensive outreach and relationship building, we have always aimed to impact the Chicagoland region.

Yet, we recognize we must continue to be proactive in this work. The needs of LGBTQ individuals are evolving and so too are the spaces they inhabit.

Over the next three years we will increase the geographic diversity of Center on Halsted’s program participants by establishing appropriate strategic partnerships in different geographic areas, increasing engagement from clients on the south and west sides, and establishing a physical brick & mortal presence outside of Lakeview.

As we say goodbye to Pride Month here in Chicago, we thank you all for joining us and invite you back throughout the year. With your plans laid out, we’re ready to get to work and look forward to enacting them with your dedication and commitment.
